About Us

Mission (What We Do): (Pending Board Approval)

Through the transformational power of community, we collaborate with housemates and neighbors, to sustain affordable housing and leadership development opportunities on Monadnock Street.

Vision (Why We Do It): (Pending Board Approval)

To create rich and vibrant community that fosters rooted and engaged leaders, who affirm each other’s power and diversity, in Boston’s Upham’s Corner and beyond.

Values (How We Do It): (Pending Board Approval)

Community = Community is transformational. We value relationships with each other (inside 29) and with neighbors (in our immediate neighborhood). We believe face-to-face conversations, listening to each other with an attitude of learning, develops relationships that are mutually formative.

Diversity = Diversity is an act of love. We affirm the racial, ethnic, and cultural identities of our housemates and neighbors, especially the presence of immigrant families. We create an atmosphere of belonging, whether oppressed or marginalized, privileged or powerful, everyone is welcome at our table.

Leadership = Everyone is a leader. Everyone, inside and outside our house, is a growing leader. We create a space where the gifts and talents of those in our neighborhood can grow and develop. We support and encourage each other as we learn from the challenges of living in community and in our neighborhood.

Service = Service is justice in action. We cheerfully serve those in our community, and look for opportunities to meet each others’ needs. We meet the needs of our neighborhood through . . .  and seek to be available as other needs arise.
